As a Walpole, MA newborn photographer, I drive to sessions in all four seasons. However, this one was especially memorable because it was my first time arriving at a home surrounded by nearly two feet of fresh snow.
Even so, the moment I stepped inside, everything felt warm and relaxed. Their home was beautiful, yes, but more importantly, it felt lived in and welcoming. That comfort always sets the tone for a great session.
I quickly became friends with Luke, their 3.5 year old. At that age, sessions can go either way, which is why I always build in time to connect first. As a result, he felt comfortable right away.
He listened so well, gave the sweetest smiles, and was incredibly proud of his new baby sister. After we finished his portion of the session, we celebrated with a quick game of Hide and Seek. Because when toddlers feel included, everything flows more naturally.
If you are worried about sibling photos, you do not need to be. I guide the entire process so it feels easy and relaxed rather than stressful.
Little Faye was just as lovely as can be. She looked beautiful in the delicate bows I brought from my client collection, which includes simple pieces that photograph in a timeless way.
Although she took a little while to settle, which is completely normal, we moved at her pace. After her dad rocked her for a few minutes, she drifted off peacefully. As a result, we were able to capture those soft, sleepy portraits that parents treasure.
At the same time, Luke showered her with enthusiastic hugs and kisses. Watching that brand new sibling bond unfold is always one of my favorite parts of a newborn session.
Faye does not have a nursery of her own just yet. Second child life is real. However, beautiful newborn images do not require a perfectly styled room.
Instead, we used their finished basement and the primary bedroom, focusing on natural light and connection. With thoughtful positioning and gentle direction, any space can feel clean, bright, and timeless.
Knowing how to make your home look its best without asking you to change everything is something I quietly pride myself on.
There is something special about documenting a family in this in between stage, when everything still feels new.
These are their first professional photographs as a family of four. Years from now, they will look back and remember the snow outside, Luke’s excitement, and how tiny Faye once was.
That is why I do what I do.
If you are new here, hi. I am Taryn. I photograph newborns and families throughout Walpole and Metro West Massachusetts. My sessions are relaxed, baby led, and designed to feel natural from start to finish.
You do not need a finished nursery.
You do not need a perfectly behaved toddler.
You just need to show up.
I will take care of the rest.
