There is something so special about documenting a family during a season of so much change, and Baby Maggie’s newborn session was exactly that.
Maggie was welcomed home by her mom, dad, two very excited big brothers, and their pets, Millie and Abu. Her name was chosen in honor of her mother’s grandmother, making her arrival even more meaningful.
This family had also just purchased their home in Needham only four weeks before Maggie was born. I loved being able to document this brand-new chapter for their family in the place where so many of Maggie’s childhood memories will be made.
Maggie’s two older brothers brought plenty of energy to their newborn session — as you might expect from two little boys!
They were rambunctious, playful, and full of personality, but the moment they were around their baby sister, their sweetness really came through. It was obvious that Maggie already has two big brothers who are going to be looking out for her for years to come.
Some of my favorite images from newborn sessions are the ones that capture these sibling relationships naturally. They don’t have to sit perfectly or smile at the camera. A kiss, a curious little hand, or the way an older sibling looks at their new baby can tell the entire story.
As a Needham, MA Newborn Photographer, I love photographing families in their own homes. There is something so personal about documenting a newborn exactly where they are beginning their life.
For Maggie’s family, that meant capturing not only their new baby, but also the home they had just started making their own, her two brothers, and the pets who are already part of their family story.
Needham is such a special community for families, and I always love getting to photograph families throughout the area. The Town of Needham has a wonderful collection of local parks, recreation programs, schools, and community resources, while the Needham Free Public Library offers programs and resources for local children and families.
Most importantly, this session was about preserving the little things that will be so easy to forget — just how tiny Maggie was, how her brothers interacted with her, and what life looked like for this family at the very beginning of their newest chapter.
These are the photographs that become more meaningful as the years go by.
