S’Mores Under the Stars | An Adults’ Night Out

Something about me is I love planning. Writing things down in a brand new planner is like Christmas morning. Taking the calendar items I have in my phone and writing them in a different location is so fun for me. Planning a girls’ trip or family vacation with welcome gifts included fills my time when the children are asleep or in quiet time. My go to hobby when I’m bored or stressed or find free time is to look at flights or think of our next adventure. So when I saw the idea of a S’Mores party in this hosting book my mom had, I knew I had to do it.

I invited everyone I knew who lived near me (unfortunately I had to reschedule to Labor Day weekend due to rain) but turns out it was the perfect amount of people to have gathered around the campfire! We had so much fun trying all of the different S’Mores flavor combinations. I tried making lemon curd and it ended up being more like lemon soup but it was still absolutely delicious paired with the Chessmen cookies, white chocolate, and roasted marshmallow.

The tiki torches were a fun touch (that only got lit after my children were safely in the car on their way to their grandparents’ house) and worked decently well at keeping the mosquitos at bay. They also stayed lit even though almost the entire party there was a light rain drizzle. Luckily it didn’t pour and we were able to still enjoy our evening but it was definitely there the whole time. I am grateful it didn’t say it was going to rain in the forecast though or else I would have had to cancel it for the 2nd time and I’m not sure I would have had the heart to reschedule again.

My husband Bryan absolutely loved it (which is saying a lot because I’m the one who pushes social gatherings in our marriage) and we even discussed the possibility of making this an annual thing?? We’ll see. It for sure won’t be the last time I throw a party though, that’s for sure. My favorite part of our new(ish) house is our yard and it was fun to have it used for hosting tonight!
